| The mission of
City Aquatics and the Iguanas Swim Club is to introduce novice swimmers to the sport
of swimming and
develop experienced swimmers to their fullest potential. Community outreach
is emphasized and supported by the not-for-profit Friends Of Chicago Youth
Swimming including fee waivers for competitive swimmers and
participation a new free lessons program for Chicago Public School
students called "Making Waves" . Members are encouraged to develop sportsmanship in
addition to their swimming skills. Member families work collectively as a
team with emphasis on creating good swimmers and good people outside the
pool. Iguanas practice between 2 and 12 hours
per week depending on age, experience and goals.
Coaches are certified by USA Swimming and the American
Swim Coaches Association. The staff is actively supported with
educational efforts in order to bring the best coaching and
teaching practices to our participants.
